About San Antonio

San Antonio, which is located in South-Central Texas, is the seventh (7th) largest city in the nation and home of the Alamo. The Alamo is an 18th-century Spanish mission preserved as a museum, famous for the 1836 battle for Texas’ independence from Mexico.

San Antonio is also the home of the World-Famous San Antonio River Walk, a 15-mile-long River Walk that is a pedestrian landmark and trail lined with cafes and shops. The River Walk has been extended to run from the Historic Pearl at River North to the Missions in River South.

San Antonio was the host to the 1986 World’s Fair, HemisFair ’68, where the Tower of the Americas was built as the theme structure. The Tower of Americas now is a 750-foot (230-meter) observation tower with a restaurant located in HemisFair Park.
